For many men, the decline in virility can be incredibly debilitating and depressing, one’s ego and self- worth become affected, and this filters into all aspects of their lives. Their careers and personal life can be severely affected, and often destroyed. Many feel this is inevitable and a consequence of the natural aging process, however, this is not entirely correct, this decline can be significantly impeded, and if it’s already taken hold, it is quite reversible. But first we have to understand some of the science. The endocrine system is controlled by a complex negative feedback loop when it comes to sex hormones, it is controlled by the Hypothalmic-Pituitary-Testicular Axis (HPTA). What occurs to the average male who doesn’t exercise and or eat properly, is that slowly over time, this axis starts to fail, with deleterious consequences.

The first stage of this failure is the slow loss of muscle through lack of exercise, and a sedentary lifestyle, combined with less than optimum nutrition. From their one starts to accumulate body fat. This increase in body fat causes an increase in aromatase enzyme activity. Increased aromatase enzyme causes accelerated conversion of Testosterone into Estrogen. This is where it becomes especially problematic, the Hypothalamus doesn’t regulate Testosterone production by referencing Testosterone levels, it regulates based on the Estrogen levels. Once the Hypothalamus reads the elevated level of Estrogen, it reduces its output of GnRH (Gonadotropin Releasing Hormone) which causes a down-regulation of signaling to the Pituitary. So now the Pituitary reduces its output of Luteinizing Hormone (LH) and Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) collectively known as Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG). Diminished LH means less stimulus to the Testes and a subsequent drop in Testosterone production, and diminished FSH means a drop in sperm production.

This is where you begin a vicious runaway cycle, because less Testosterone means less muscle, and less muscle means lower metabolism, and greater opportunity for fat storage, which exacerbates the cycle as more Estrogen means more nutrient is partitioned towards fat. What’s worse is that the Estrogen increases so many other risk factors in males, among them being Atherosclerosis, Clotting and Strokes, Prostate Enlargement and possibly Prostate Cancer, and Depression.

So Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) and Estrogen control can assist not only with alleviating the effects of Erectile Dysfunction and loss of Virility, but has a whole host of added health benefits.

What we do differently:

  1. Whereas most physicians may supplement with Testosterone or Testosterone precursors, this is in no way a solution to the problem, and over time will absolutely exacerbate the problem
  2. Estrogen Management – This is the real key to repairing the damage done, to aggressively control Estrogen

 We have also experimented with other protocol’s that will be discussed in later blog’s, but let’s just say we have effective ways of re-kindling feelings of desire, without having to use those awful blue pills that make you feel ill. They are a blunt tool not up to the job, and certainly not a solution, it’s like putting a band-aid on an amputation. There are ways to do this with way more finesse.
